a call to mediocrity
i'm increasingly realizing that i have a lot of wonderful, inspired goals in life, and that many of them aren't really shooting for the stars. they don't require the advanced degrees i'd always thought i'd want, and they certainly don't make the big bucks or bring much societal prestige.

for example, some things i want to do with my life:
  • be a back up singer
  • work at an indie coffee shop
  • work at an indie book store
  • work at a giant conglomerate book store, for that matter
  • help with wardrobe, hair, and makeup for undercover CIA operatives
  • be a personal shopper
  • be a stay-at-home wife
  • be an extra in television shows
  • work at a library
  • be a roadie

but, if they're what i want to do with my life, then they're nothing short of perfect.
coffee shop wages: $7 per hour. not being a technical writer: priceless.
