Accentuate.
In mixed company, that is, my English family and my American friends, I choose my words carefully, much like the young speech impedimented David Sedaris in "Me Talk Pretty One Day" avoided his telltale consonants. I steer clear of words that make me sound either distinctly English or distinctly American, because for some reason I honestly can't define, I’m not sure which I am.
